Information

The Sacrifice and the Night of the Ritual (生贄と供犠の夜, Ikenie to Kugi no Yoru) is the first episode of the Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts anime series.

Summary[]

Sariphi arrives in the kingdom of beasts as the 99th human sacrifice to its monstrous king. But this surprisingly upbeat girl isn't what anyone expected. What will come of her brief days with the king before he's scheduled to devour her?

Plot[]

After learning about her life, the beast king couldn't help but feel genuine sympathy for Sariphi, saying she deserves a much better life than her previous life from her childhood.

???

He then reveals to her that he was a hybrid of a beast and a human; whenever the miasma disappears, the beast king turns into his human form where he waits until dawn. The beast king fell his knees, lamenting how he couldn't keep up with his act and intimidate Sariphi when he was in his beast form.

She then adds that even if she does escape, she has no home to go back to as she cannot bear the thought of seeing her adoptive parents' cold expressions before telling him that she can't wait to be eaten by him. Moved by the girl's kindness and empathy, however, the beast king was unable to bring himself to devour Sariphi so he breaks her shackles apart before pulling her into a hug which Sariphi embraced, telling her that she is his now.

The day after the ritual, the beast king announces his impromptu engagement with Sariphi; whom he decided to groom her as his future bride and queen instead, much to the shock and horror of Anubis and the council. When one of the council asks why he wants to mix the royal bloodline with human blood.

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • In the anime, Sariphi tries to wake up her adoptive sister in the flashback by using her name. In the manga, Sariphi only ever refers to her adoptive sister as "sister".
  • In the manga, there was an innuendo at the end when Sariphi says "This isn't what I meant by "eat me." It was cut in the anime.
  • In the manga, Clops and Cy are on Anubis' shoulders during Leonhart's announcement. This is not shown in the anime.
