Deep down however, the King carries a heavy heart filled with regret and sorrow as he carries the weight of having follow the peace treaty tradition on his shoulders, feeling guilty and responsible for sending maidens of Yoana to their deaths and loss of their former lives, as they're unable to live peacefully again even after escaping Ozmargo.
History[]
In the distant past, the Royal House of Maskviana agreed to the human sacrifices in exchange for an end to the great war. The King of Maskviana continued the human sacrifices yet it appears to have taken a toll on him.[1]
Plot[]
Sariphi first meets the King of Maskviana when she has an audience with him as an envoy from Ozmargo. During their meeting, he tells Sariphi that he believes that the letter she gave him is a personal letter from Leonhart. He also believes the contents of the letter to be of such great importance that he will need to discuss the matter with representatives from the other nations. So, he asks Sariphi to tell Leonhart that they need more time before they are able to give an answer. Sariphi agrees to pass the message to Leonhart.[1]
He then asks Sariphi about her experiences in Ozmargo. He feels as if it his duty to know about the place that their kingdom had agreed to send their maidens to in the name of superficial peace. Sariphi tells him that Ozargo is a very ordinary world that is ruled by a kind king who wishes for peace between human-kind and beast-kind.[1]

- "The Royal House of Maskviana accepted the institution of sacrifice, in exchange for an end to the great war. Since then, we have sent many maidens to a distant land of which we know nothing. For the sake of a superficial temporary peace, we forced our most vulnerable to pay far too great a price. It is, our duty to know the whole truth of it".[1]
