Ilya (イリヤ, Irīa) is the childhood friend of Sariphi.
Appearance[]

Ilya is a teenage boy with short untamed light blond hair, light tan skin, and shamrock green eyes. He wears a white tunic, dark teal-green arm-warmers, a dark emerald green flowing scarf wrapped around his neck, black pants, and jet black calf-length boots.
Personality[]
Ilya was once kind and good-hearted, vowing himself to always protect those he cares for. According to Sariphi, when they lived together in the same village he made sure to always look after her and were very close friends. However, losing his family at the hands of a group of beasts and not being able to do anything to protect them deeply affected him. Ever since then he made an oath to do whatever it takes to avoid losing someone he cares about.
Ilya has developed a strong hatred towards all beasts in general to the point of discriminating and seeing them as "evils" and even trying to kill an innocent child simply because he is a beast. He now wants to kill every beast that exists to liberate humanity so they can live happy and in peace showing some twisted morality. Ilya also refuses to believe that some beasts can be nice and good-natured, thinking that Sariphi was being tricked by the king when she told him that the king is not evil.

13 years ago, he's seen chasing away some kids that made fun of his sister Misha because she had different hair color than him and their mom and they told her that she was adopted and that the beasts would take her.

Ilya and Misha found out by two Beastkinds
When they are back at their house their mom is then telling them to hide and to not make a sound which then their mom leaves, a little bit later two beasts are seen entering their house then suddenly one of the beasts look in the closet and gets eye contact with Ilya which terrifies him, the beasts then opens the closet and refrain Ilya then they take Misha and kills her in the front of a horrified Ilya. After that they told him to run away as fast as he could and then they would chase after him, if his teacher haven't found him he would have been dead.[2]

Ilya met Sariphi
After that, he met Sariphi when she smacked a medicine herb at him after he asked her what she was doing standing there and he swore to protect her so that he doesn't loose another one that he cares about.
Plot[]
Ilya is seen entering the palace and knocks out two guards, and tells them to bring him their king as he has business with him. Once his swords and boots were confiscated, Ilya was then taken to a cell and when the king of beasts comes he asks him if he ate Sariphi. After Sariphi comes down after she heard some noises, Ilya is relieved that she's still alive.[3]

He was really protective over her and would always reassure her when others made fun of her because of her eye and hair color.

Ever since they were younger he has always loved her, after finding out that she was the 99th sacrifice he traveled to Ozmargo to find her and bring her home to Yoana.After he knocks her unconscious and takes her somewhere else near the border, he tells her that he loves her. He later helps in the anime protect refugees and also was Richard god father with Sariphi sister Maria Kleinoel who has cut ties with her parents once she found out what they did Leonhart and her sister gave her a lot of money to start a new life a distance from her parents it is hinted he did marry her
