Bennu (ベンヌ, Ben'nu) is one of the main characters of the anime Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts and Manga series.
He is the phoenix-like familiar of Sariphi.
Appearance[]
Bennu's full appearance in the anime.
Bennu usually appears as a small chick-like creature, with soft yellow feathers on his body, white on his belly, small crest feathers on his brows, and sharp and narrow eyes.
When he chooses to, Bennu can change form, transforming into a large and majestic phoenix with a resplendent golden plumage that radiates a fiery aura, his crest feathers gaining crimson feathers in them, and he is large enough for at least two or three passengers around Sariphi's size to ride on his back.
Personality[]
Bennu is a proud creature, rude and foulmouthed, and typically does what he wants. He doesn't hesitate to insult anyone who annoys him, and was even rude to Sariphi at first. But in truth, Bennu hides a deep pain inside that came from how he was used by others for his healing powers and was taken for granted, that he became so disillusioned with healing people that he changed himself to his smaller size so no one would take him seriously and leave him alone even though their cruel words still cut deep.
Sariphi however brought back some of Bennu's fire, restoring his confidence and willingness to help, although he mostly helps because of Sariphi asking him to or if she needs him.
Bennu won't openly acknowledge but he cares about Sariphi, because of her sincerity, her kind heart, her respect for him, and the faith she has for Bennu despite anyone doubting naysaying either of them.

After being summoned he is eating the food that was meant for Sariphi to help her regain her strength after the summoning.
When Sariphi ended up jumping after he fell of the building after someone hit it and it cracked, he transforms to his full form and flew Sariphi to Leonhart.

- Transformation
Bennu has the power to transform between his true majestic form and his smaller diminutive form.
- Regeneration
Bennu has the power to heal wounds, regenerating flesh wounds, blood loss, and broken bones. But he can't heal illnesses, like seasickness.
- Sensing
Because of their contract as mistress and familiar, Bennu is able to sense Sariphi no matter where she is or how far apart they are from each other.

- In author's notes, when creating another mascot character, Yū Tomofuji's biggest concern was avoiding overlap with Cy and Clops, she ended up with foul-mouthed old man. When she first drew Bennu, her editor got the impression he was going to be a silent character, but the reality ended up the exact opposite. He just says whatever's on his mind, so he is a fun character to play with and even in his big form, he's not that big.
- In Volume 4, he is about 8cm (4") tall, he dislikes being ordered around and likes peanuts.
